KHVT is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the construction of free public skateboard parks in the St. Louis, Mo. area, and to promoting skateboarding as a fun, healthy activity for both youths and adults.

KHVT was founded in support of the Kinghighway D.I.Y. skatespot, built between 2009 and 2015 by local skateboarders under the South Kinghshighway viaduct. When "the bridge" was demolished in July 2015, St. Louis was left with no free public skateparks. Since then, KHVT has built one new park, the Peter Mathews Memorial Skate Garden, and is working to create even more. Donations of time, labor, materials and money are welcome!

Stolen from the bridge who skates you?

After the love seat pour on Tuesday there were 6 or more bags of concrete stored down at the bridge...  Someone took them Late Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.  All signs say it was a skateboarder who knows where & how we cover our extras..  If it was a skateboarder who took these bags...  Keep your lameness away from K.H.V.T. & realize you are skateboarding's shame!!

As for the rest of humanity, if you skated here, and never have contributed in any way... Your stealing as well.

Keep your rubbish away from the Bridge.. This is not "Shitside"

Remember: This is not "shitside"... Don't bring your trash here.

??!!Patching ground!!??

Finding the best product in ST. Louis at all is hard.. they just don't sell it here.. The only way to get good ardex is to drive to Kansas City and buy it from a store there. Or you can order it off the the website for $60 a bag.
Well STL skateboarders there is a solution!!  Go to a concrete supply store called "Nu-Way" (There is one south of the city off hwy 55, and another in Wentzville.)  Go to the counter and say you want $100 worth of "Conpatch VO"

YOU COULD RESURFACE HALF THE BRIDGE WITH THAT MUCH!!!!

This stuff really works for concrete patching and will last a long time with loads of skateboarding.  It's less than $20 a bag.. It's easy to mix and you can trowel it fairly thin over rough concrete surfaces.  Get a small finishing trowel while your there!!

This is what we put on the big pump bump to make it skate correctly!! It's also on the jersey walls that have skated for over a year!!

GO BUY SOME FOR THE BRIDGE THIS CHRISTMAS!!

Mission

First of all this Blog is here to spread the good word about the King's Highway Skatespot...  Really you can call it anything you want... If your constantly riding the coat tails of others, and want to continue, but with and slightly negative attitude, and a quinge for the grottiest... Call it "ShitSide"  Locals who work there call it "The Bridge" same as in other cities who have these spots.  Along with "Under the Bridge" and the "V.T. spot" which means "volleyball team" for the layman.  Above all we who have built the skateables under the bridge have the good sense to recognize that this skate park should be respectfully titled "Kingshighway".  Sorry if that's too simple for y'all.  But really call it getting done cause that's what we are doing.  Who cares?!

Hey Shit talkers!!!

Do you think the city officials would be stoked if we asked them to help, contribute, and/or give us the land if we approached them with a plan?  Should we tell them "it's known by many as shitside"...?? I'm sure they'd love that name... sounds very professional.

What have you built?

Joe Lopes had a wooden half pipe in his back yard in the 1980's....It's was an epic spot for west coast skaters to come meet, work and skate... Lopes has since passed away, and is now compost like his wooden ramp...The point is... Skateboarders have built terrian for them selves to ride for decades.. Don't go to the grave without contributing to skateboarding.

What have you done for skateboarding today?

Shitside!!!!????? That's Lame!!

Shitty Fundraiser For DIY Skatepark, Shitside (St. Louis)

Randy Ploesser is organizing a shitty event to help raise money for St. Louis's DIY skate park under the Kingshighway viaduct (at Southwest and Kingshighway). This spot is known to many as Shitside, in reference to the famous Portland skate park that was built under similar conditions called Burnside. There will be boxes, rails, and ramps for skateboarding at the fundraiser, but anything that rolls is welcome (excluding bikes). There will be drinks available at the St. Louis Skatium bar and a large raffle giving away lots of product from all of the event’s sponsors. There will also be organized games of S.K.A.T.E. with half of the money pool going to the winner and the other half donated to helping Shitside. Come join the party and help make a great spot even better. What else do you have to do on a Tuesday night?
