***Help us find new spots!!!!!***

We have been talking with local city officials about taking over some abandon spots within the city limits and building "skate gardens" on them! Our plan is to take these areas clean them up and turn them into functional skate areas! We still need more spots to submit, the more we find the better our choices! The original plan b spot is unfortunately a no go because its under an interstate which is controlled by the state and not the city.

This is what we are looking for....

Run down lots

within the city limits of St. Louis

existing concrete or asphalt is ok

dirt lots are ok

lots in more commercial or industrial areas are better for noise issues

areas that look very run down

city owned is preferable

With these factors in mind, take a look around when your driving around. Eye sore areas are the best spots because anything in its place would make it better! A physical address of something close and brief description will help the most. We have a very good contact at the city that is willing to work with us so either post the spot on KHVT St. Louis Facebook page or email them to us at kings.highway@yahoo.com! All submissions will be considered so get HUNTING!!!!!

Check out this article from STLtoday.com.  STLtoday, Kingshighway Bridge to be rebuilt. Its sad news but we all knew it was just a matter of time. Look at it like this though, we have proven to the city that we need a place to skate. Even though it sucks we can turn this situation around and use it to our advantage! KHVT has been working on some new sites and will be approaching the city about a new park in the near future. Stay tuned for info. We are also in the middle of planning the next couple fundraising events so stay tuned for that info as well. WE WILL NOT GIVE UP!!! We have proven that with all your support we can make things happen and we will continue to do just that! Lets make this a summer to remember at KHB and shred the old bridge to death! Literally!

Future of KHVT

With the looming threats of our bridges demise, KHVT has been feverishly searching out new spots to develop. If anyone has ideas, spots or private property that you think would be a good place for a new park please email us at kings.highway@yahoo.com. Also we are in need of some more members to our team. We are currently looking for anyone with experience in grant writing, accounting, fundraising, sales/donation solicitation, skateboarding advocacy and non profit work to help take our organization to the next level! We are a 501c3 accredited non profit organization but at this time we are only excepting volunteers. If you are interested or know someone that might be, send a brief informal resume of experience that would apply to kings.highway@yahoo.com . Helping us out would be a great resume builder and will give you a chance to give back to our community! We will take all the help we can get! We have a massive site in the works for a new park but we are still in the early stages so i cannot give out any details just yet but know that St. Louis skateboardings future is looking very bright, or should i saw dark?!?!? hint hint.....   B.

Clean up day

*** Winter Clean Up tomorrow, Sunday Jan. 9th ***

SUNDAY, JAN. 9, Noon

Things are looking pretty rough down at the bridge which is to be expected considering the cold conditions but we still need to take care of whats ours! Come out tomorrow around noon and help us get it together. There's plenty to do including painting, sweeping and as usual PICKING UP TRASH! Come prepared for the weather and bring gloves, painting supplies such as rollers trays paint, brooms, trash bags or anything that you think we will need. I'm sure a sick session will follow which is reward enough for anyone! Thanks!

*** Elwood destroys STL!!!! ***

Sick video from when Elwood came through town last year! Lots of good tennis court footage which is kinda sad but I like the way the guys at Pretty put it, " Let Mr. Kenny Anderson's line in the above video be the proverbial cherry on top of a long and joyous era of skateboarding in St. Louis."

Pour some out for your lost homie.... The Delmar tennis courts, a legendary DIY  spot in St. Louis, is almost a memory... It is indeed a sad day for St. Louis skaters.

*** KHVT Xmas Mini Jam results ***

Thanks to everyone who came out and donated! I think everyone had a great time and no ambulance were called. Everyone went off in the jam, Thx out to Chad @ RR for letting us throw this shindig! Check the Jolly Roger vid for the recap thx to Keith and Wendy! Also thx to Russ and Justin for working the door and Cyd as always for taking care of the booth! We made some more loot for crete so it was indeed a Murrah Crumpas!!!! The Jam was insane! Bodies and boards flying everywhere with a Sudden DEATH shootout!!!! Results are as follows.....

Don't forget this Thursday night, Dec. 23rd at Ramp Riders, The KHVT Xmas MINI JAM!!!!! It will be a RR session with a Mini Ramp Jam around 8pm, Free contest entry with admission! Prizes for winners, even if you've been naughty, as well as raffles all night! Doors at 6pm. All proceeds go towards more CRETE for the bridge!!!! Bring your friends and fam even if they don't sk8! Fun will be had by all!!!!!
